Pre-K Montessori

Chris and I have decided to try and get our oldest daughter, Ava, into the public pre-K Montessori program. There are 2 elementary schools that offer it and we visited the first one this morning. I was hoping for more walking and touring and less video and Q/A. The girls did remarkably well sitting still for an hour. I had to convince Ava that being at school would include friends and toys. She seemed disappointed that we just sat in a stark white room watching a movie she cared nothing about. We are sold on the Montessori curriculum, we just need to know which is the better of the 2 offered. The one we visited today is 10 years older than the other. Plus for them.

The only way to get her in is by the lottery system. Basically, we fill out and send in a application with our preferences listed. They throw all the names in a computer and we have to hope Ava's is picked. We'll see. If she's not selected, I'll probably do Pre-K montessori at home.
